Remembering and Missing My Dad

I woke up this morning thinking of my father, today is the anniversary of his passing. It has been twenty three years since he has been gone, but because of what he taught me and the values he instilled in me, he is with me every day in my heart and in my thoughts.

My father was a lifelong learner, he loved bird watching, growing African Violets, drawing, painting, reading, and one of his favorite things, was to pass on what he learned, even if we didn't want to know. I have newspaper articles that he cut out from newspapers with the main ideas underlined in red ink.
He often times, using red ink, would correct a letter or short note that I sent to him, and returned it to me via the mail so I would learn from my mistakes. How I love and miss that man.

  4. Paulette, this reminds me so much of my grandfather. He was both a teacher and a student his entire life. I learned so much from him. And yes, it included some corrected letters, spoken sentences, math problems, etc.

I'm glad you have the wonderful memories of your dad to keep your smiling. I know my heart smiles when I think of my grandpa.
