A brand new, never been out of the box, S'Mores Maker.
I can't wait to have my grandchildren come over and make s'mores with my thrifty find. Small glitch, I haven't been able to find sterno for the s'mores maker. I went to Target this afternoon to make my purchase of sterno but was unsure where it was located. Went to the service desk and asked "Where can I find sterno?" The young lady looked at me rather strangely, and I realized she had no idea what I was talking about. "It's a small can of fuel for under chafing dishes to keep the food warm." I received the same strange look. I don't think she knew what a chafing dish was. She pulls out her Target walkie talkie and asks "Do we carry sterno?'' I left Target without sterno.
My next stop was Menards, a large home improvement/hardware store. The employees at Menards are always walking up and down isle asking customers if they need any help. Very impressive. I see my first Menards employee and ask "Can you tell we where I could find sterno?" Yep, the same strange look. I left Menards without sterno.
On my kitchen counter, all washed and waiting to be used sits the s'more maker. My son stopped over and was sitting at the kitchen table when he spots the s'more maker. "Oh, Declan will love you for that."
I smile and say "If I can find any sterno for it." I get the strange look maybe young people don't know what sterno is. Is there some other name I should be calling it? If there is please leave a comment and let me know.
Perhaps a small local hardware store will carry sterno. I do have one close to me but do I really want to visit it again, see my blog Hardware Store No More.
My next find will be for my granddaughter's bedroom and was purchased at Goodwill. This little vanity will be getting a fresh coat of paint. I will showcase the finished piece when it is all finished.
Looking forward to seeing everyones thrift finds.

You can find sterno in a shop that has camping supplies, like tents, sleeping bags, etc.

ReplyDeleteYou can get "sterno" or gel fuel as us young'ens call it from any sporting goods store. Hunters use it to warm there hands and also for a camp/lighting source.
ReplyDeletecorrection "their" hands.
ReplyDeleteTry Gordons Food Service or another catering supply shop.
ReplyDeleteLove the vanity!
You can also get sterno at a party supply store.
