An Auction, A Collage, and A Winner

Dinner auctions are big fundraisers in my area for both private and public schools.  You purchase a ticket for dinner and drinks and bid on items from the silent auction, live auction or purchase raffle tickets. I spent my Saturday evening at one of these functions.

After five minutes with a magnifying glass I found them.

Here is how it works. For the silent auction tables line the room with baskets full of goodies in different categories. Bon Appetite, Entertainment, Sportz Center, Kiz Zone, Primped and Pampered, and This and That. 

 For example, a silent auction item in This and That section had this themed basket, Mom's Day at the Beach, the basket contained a beach towel, two books, water bottle with water and drink packets, snacks, suntan lotion, flip flops, a handheld fan and a tote. 

If you are interested in an item, you write your name and bidder number on the sheet of paper in front of the item up for auction and the price you want to bid. Highest bidder wins that item.

The most popular silent auction table was titled We've Got Spirit. Here, auction items were offered by certain teachers, for example, Pizza with Mrs. McNair. The parents who bid the highest will have their child and one friend eating a pizza lunch with Mrs. McNair in the teacher's lounge. What kid doesn't want to know what the room where the teacher's eat lunch looks like! Bowling with the Sisters, gives four students the opportunity to go bowling and hang out with Sister Carlene Marie and Sister Lucille Ann, I'm trying to figure out if this would be a treat or a punishment!

Also offered on the We've Got Spirit table were items made by each class in every grade level from both of the campuses. This was the most popular table for women, the men were all over at the Sportz Center tables outbidding each other for Packer tickets, Brewer tickets, Bucks tickets, and Wave tickets.

My granddaughters class made a quilt with each child's hand print, the last time I looked the bid was $350.00. I didn't bid because I'm sure I have some of her handprints on my wall with some finger prints on my windows.

My grandsons class had created wooden flower boxes decorated with thumbprint flowers, I didn't bid on this one either.

There was one classroom project that caught my attention, the South campus kindergarten class made a black and white collage with each kindergarten student stating what they wanted to be when they grew up.

I will have a grandchild in kindergarten next year, I hope that this teacher will make the same collage for the auction next year, because I would bid on it.

At the end of the evening, the raffle ticket winners were drawn, and I was declared a winner of a patio bistro table and a propane patio heater. Wonder which child will scoop it up for their patio? First come first served.
