You coud not do without these at the drive-in theatre. Speakers for your roll up car windows, of course!
Yep, fun times!
I had to teach my cast memebers in a recent production of "Grease" what these were, how to use them, and WHY you hang them up before you drive off!
Of course! I been to an outdoor movie a time or two or three in my teen years.
At first I had no idea, then I realized what they were. YES, I do remember them, and have a funny story about when swarms of mosquitos came in through the crack in the window where the speaker would hang. Crazy. It was at a drive-in theater where I saw Psycho. Talk about scary!! In our neighborhood, some people have recently opened up a drive-in theater reminiscent of the ones we went to, but the movie is broadcast over a radio station, which means you don't have to hang speakers on your window. :-)
Believe it or not, there is still a working drive-in about 20 miles from here.
I sure do remember these, although we didn't have a drive-in theatre near enough when I was growing up for us to go. There is one operating in a town about 45 minutes away from our house. Although we've never been, they always have the most current movies and are quite busy during the warmer months.
