Pisanki Eggs I'm Going to Give It a Try

I'm look forward to celebrating St. Patrick's Day, but I'm also excited to celebrate Easter with our Polish traditions. 

My father enjoyed dabbling in artistic endeavors, watercolor, sketching, pen and ink, and after his retirement he became interested in making Ukrainian Easter Eggs or in Polish, Pisanki Eggs.

While seeking out something from the basement, I came across my fathers egg decorating kits, folder full of information on how to decorate the eggs, and a book written in 1979 about Ukraine Easter Eggs.

I found three decorating kits just like this one, that can create beautiful eggs like in the book. 

Inside the box is the stylus, wax, and instructions. 

Finding three decorating kits I decided to call my friend and retired art teacher to see if she would be interested in trying her hand at Ukrainian or Pisanki egg decorating with me. Like me she had never tried to decorate eggs with this method, so we set up a date to give it a try. 

So on Wednesday we will give this a form of egg decorating a try. I have a strong feeling that our first attempts won't be as beautiful as theses.

Does anyone have tricks or tips on this form of egg decorating that they would like to share? I would love any advice that would let me succeed in producing one half way decent looking egg. As I have stated many, many times in other blog post, I don't seem to have a DIY gene, but for some reason I keep trying.
